Hilo Town
A short forty-minute drive to the seat of the Big Island government. There are beautiful old buildings along Bayfront with interesting shops and the Farmer's Market is open on Wednesday and Saturday. The city has several museums (Tsunami & Lyman), movie theaters, shopping mall, restaurants, banks, International Airport (with car rental), and parks (Lili'uokalani & Wailoa) where you can enjoy the exotic flowers & vegetation. Our zoo is home to a white tiger and he loves visitors. Hilo bay has a black sand beach. Come in Spring and experience the famous Merrie Monarch Hula Festival as well other annual events. Be sure to visit the largest Mac nut farm in the world, they offer plenty of free samples! And don't miss Big Island Candies. |
